Stahlhelm M17 WWI (Si66)

Tipico elmetto modello 1917 (Stahlhelm M17) dell’esercito imperiale tedesco durante la Prima guerra mondiale. L’elmetto porta l’interno con il cerchione in metallo, che è l’elemento che distingue gli elmi M17 dai precedenti M16 che avevano invece il cerchione in pelle. L’elmo è marcato sulla falda con “Si66” (produttore: Eisenhuette Silesia – Paruschowitz Oberschlesien; taglia: 66), mentre sul fondo della calotta c’è il numero di lotto “rolling mill” Bi158. Il soggolo è mancante e i tre lembi dell’interno sono privi di imbottitura, ma comunque l’elmo è in buono stato di conservazione generale.

The helmet has a metal rim on the inside, which is what distinguishes the M17 helmets from the earlier M16 helmets that had a leather rim instead. The helmet is marked on the brim with “Si66” (manufacturer: Eisenhuette Silesia – Paruschowitz Oberschlesien; size: 66), while on the dome is the batch number “rolling mill” Bi158. The chinstrap is missing and the three flaps of the liner are unpadded, but nevertheless the helmet is in good overall condition.
