Nappina da colonnello di Cavalleria (Carlo Alberto)

Bella nappina per colonnello comandante di uno dei primi 4 reggimenti di cavalleria dell’Armata Sarda (Nizza, Piemonte, Savoia o Genova) durante il regno di Carlo Alberto di Savoia (1831-1849). La nappina, concepita per essere fissata all’estremità sinistra degli elmi di cavalleria, ha forma di granata esplodente con croce sabauda al centro. All’interno c’è la tulipa che serviva a inserire il pennacchio bianco (aigrette), simbolo dei comandanti di reggimento. Pezzo molto raro e antico, riconoscibile dagli esemplari successivi per via della fiamma, che è tendente a destra anziché essere dritta.

Nice tassel for colonel commander of one of the first 4 cavalry regiments of the Sardinian Army (Nice, Piedmont, Savoy or Genoa) during the reign of Charles Albert of Savoy (1831-1849). The tassel, designed to be fixed to the left end of cavalry helmets, is in the shape of an exploding grenade with a flame and Savoy cross in the centre. Inside is the tulip that was used to insert the white plume (aigrette), the symbol of regimental commanders. A very rare and antique piece, recognisable from later examples because of the flame, which tends to the right instead of being straight.
